Goals for the Future
Here are some things I think would be cool to do with some time on this earth. I likely won’t get around to all of them, but it would be sweet if I did. Some of them are mutually-exclusive, in fact.
Quality of Self
- Maintain an optimistic view of people and circumstances around me
- Openly offer my skills and time to those around me, without pretence
- Adhere to my own principles with humility and genuineness.
Acquisition of Material Goods
- A rugged and sleek Raleigh touring bicycle, to use as main mode of transport
- A multi-core server with hardware RAID on which to explore ideas of parallelism
Living Arrangments
- Live in a spacious and well-maintained apartment in Cambridge, MA, with minimal furnishings
- Buy an old house in which I will be able to do home improvement projects.
- Live with a young woman, ostensibly to whom I would become engaged
- Live in the state of New Hampshire
- Have a nice fruit, herb and vegetable garden where I can grow organic produce for personal consumption.
Professional
- Start a self-sustaining hi-tech company by age 28
- Attain a position in IT in Boston or Cambridge, MA.
- Get an MBA
- Do masters study in “Computational Modelling of Global Climate Change”
- Attain an M.S. or Ph.D. in any field of Computer Engineering or Mathematics
- Teach at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire
- Work (or research for) an organization concerned with the study of global climate change
- Make a notable mainline contribution to one of the GNU projects or to the Linux kernel.
- Work for the Free Software Foundation
Outdoor Adventure

- Climb Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe, in the French Alps.
- Hike across the state of Massachusetts
- Hike the Haute Route of the Swiss Alps
